Angry teacher injures pupil with stick

- BY RUBY SILUBRICO

ILOILO City – A seven-year-old Grade 2 pupil in the municipality of Ajuy, Iloilo was treated for a wound on his forehead at a hospital.

His teacher threw a stick and it hit the boy, said Chief Inspector Charlie Sustento, Ajuy police chief.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. on June 21 at Pili Elementary School.

The boy’s classmate seated behind him was not paying attention to the class but playing with a pair of scissors, said Sustento.

The teacher, Herma Gonzales, reproached the boy’s classmate but this other boy ignored the chiding.

Irritated, the teacher threw her stick to this stubborn pupil but unfortunately it was the boy seated in front of him who got hit.

The wounded boy was taken to the Sara District Hospital.

The following day, the injured boy’s parents met with the teacher and school head, said Sustento.

The teacher told the parents she did not intend to hurt their boy and promised not to do it again.
