I LOILO City – Under Regulation Ordinance 2015- 283 setting maximum speeds on motor vehicles, the speed l i mits are not applicable during emergencies and law enforcement operations.

Councilor Joshua Alim, author of the ordinance, sought more exemptions. These were the following:

* hospital ambulance on its way to and/or the point of emergency, provided the vehicle is indeed transporting patients or responding to emergency cases

* vehicles transporting wounded or sick persons for emergency treatment to hospitals, clinics or any other similar facility, provided their drivers shall switch on the hazard lights

* motor vehicles of any fire department, in response to fire call

* motor vehicles of the press responding to or covering incident

Alim further suggested that all vehicles be required to slow down to a maximum of 20 kph if they are within school zones and vicinity of pedestrian lanes.
