OT wins, close matches in Biron Cup basketball

WITH the playoffs round just around the corner, basketball matches in the 2017 Biron Cup Inter-municipali­ty Invitation­al tournament in Iloilo province are getting tighter.

Passi City continued their fight for a quarterfin­als slot in Bracket C following an 83-75 overtime win over Dueñas, while San Miguel scored a huge upset over bracket leader Pototan, 70-69, in overtime.

Ajuy, meanwhile, has kept their unbeaten record in Bracket D after a 66- 65 escape over Dumangas, while Alimodian tallied their second victory in the tournament at the expense of Miag-ao, 77-76. San Dionisio also stayed

n rt alive in their quarterfin­als slot chase with a 79-75 victory over Estancia, while Lemery did not sweat it to beat Balasan.

Mina maintained their hold of the top spot in Bracket A with a 5-0 win-loss slate followed by New Lucena, Cabatuan and Janiuay, all tied at 3- 2; Bingawan, 1-4; and Pavia, 0-5.

Leganes, Oton and Pototan shared the No. 1 spot in Bracket B ( 4- 2), followed by Santa Barbara (3-2), San Miguel (2- 3), Alimodian (2-4), and Miag- ao (0-4).

Anilao held the top seat in Bracket C ( 5- 1), followed by Barotac Nuevo (4-1), Passi (3- 2), San Enrique (2-2), Barotac Viejo ( 2- 2), Banate ( 2- 4), Dueñas (1-4), and Carles (0-3).

Ajuy and Sara occupied the No. 1 spot in Bracket D with 5-0 and 3-0, respective­ly, followed by Dumangas (2-2), San Dionisio (2-2), Lemery (1- 3), Balasan (1-4), and Estancia (1-4)./
