‘Heritage city’ tag eyed
DUMAGUETE City – Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo wants the city to become the “heritage city” of Negros Oriental.
“It is my administration’s desire to make Dumaguete a true heritage destination,” said Remollo during the landmark lighting ceremony of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Aug. 8.

Remollo announced the restoration of the old city hall will start in November.
The national government provided a fund of P50 million, he stressed.

BACOLOD City – A local business leader underscored the need for “interconnection” between Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental after the dissolution of the Negros Island Region (NIR).
“The i sland can still develop even i f the two provinces belong to different regions,” said Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI).
The “interconnection” can proceed by building road networks, he added.
