Honasan posts bail on graft raps
MANILA – Sen. Gregorio Honasan post bail for the two counts of graft charges filed against him for his alleged misuse of P30-million Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) in 2012.
Honasan was accompanied by lawyer Dennis Manalo when he surrendered before the Biñan City police headquarters in Laguna.
The senator then proceeded to the sala of Biñan Regional Trial Court Branch 25 Judge Teodoro Solis, where he posted a bail of P60,000 for the two counts of graft charges.
Honasan insisted he saw no violation done when he endorsed a non-government organization, which was allegedly done without following the procurement process, using his pork barrel fund.
“I am completely innocent of the charges against me. All my life I have fought everything I am
accused of, and I will continue to do so,” Honasan said.
The Sandiganbayan Second Division on Thursday ordered the arrest of Honasan and a number of his staffs for violating two counts of Section 3 (e) of the Republic Act 3019 or the Anti- Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
The case stemmed from Honasan’s approval for the payment of P29.1 million to Focus Development Goals Foundation I nc. f or t he i mplementation of small and medium enterprises or livelihood projects for Muslims in the National Capital Region
and Zambales.
The payment came from Honasan’s P30- million PDAF allocation. The senator also endorsed Focus “as the partner non-government organization (NGO) for the projects without the benefit of compliance with procurement regulations.”/
