Court denies car theft suspect bail

ILOILO City – The court

ico ordered the arrest of a man charged with vehicle theft.

Police officers served a warrant of arrest to the 49- year- old Jessie Salinel of Barangay Trapiche, Oton, Iloilo.

J udge Daniel Antonio Gerardo- Amular of t he Regional Trial Court Branch 35 issued the warrant. He did not set bail for the suspect’s temporary liberty.

Salinel was accused of violating Republic Act 6539, or Anti-Carnapping Law.

He was taken to the Oton police station where he was detained after his arrest around 11 a.m. on Aug. 13./

I LOILO City – I n t he component city of Passi in Iloilo province, a resident died of a gunshot wound on the face.

The 34- year- old Corbet Palmares accidentally shot himself with his .22 revolver, initial police investigation showed.

But the Passi police were delving deeper into the incident. They were trying to find out if there was any foul play.

While in their house on F. Palmares Street around 3 a. m. on Sunday, Palmares accidentally pulled the gun’s trigger, police said.

The victim was taken to the Don Valerio Palmares District Hospital where he was pronounced “dead on arrival.”

Palmares was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the incident.

The gunshot woke his family up. They checked where the sound came from, only to find Palmares slumped on the floor and bloodied, police said. ( Silubrico, Balita/
