- By Margaret njelie P. lorico

AREyou into entrepreneurship? Would you like to build a business someday? Do you want to learn how to improve your business? Then you are the lucky one this week! Why? Because the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Iloilo Chapter Inc. has celebrated another milestone as the first Iloilo Business Week 2018 opened last Aug. 20 at the Megaworld Festive Walk.

With the theme: “Forward Iloilo! Toward an Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable Economic Growth,” the week-long event is held in line with the 81st Iloilo Charter Day celebration.

Led by the newest president of the PCCI Iloilo Chapter, Atty. Jobert Peñaflorida, different personalities from various organizations were there to formally start the event. The local government (represented by Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. and Iloilo City mayor Joe Espinosa III), corporate sponsors, PCCI officers, local business stakeholders, and representatives of the exhibitors were also present.

These personalities also cut the ribbon to signal the start of the productive week of learning for those who have the desire to acquire or improve entrepreneurial skills, and attain knowledge of topics related to the world of business.

The best part is that anybody can come. It is for free and no one will be charged for registration. The slots are limited so one has to be alert in order to get to participate in the event. Go quickly so you could have a slot for yourself in the various programs or activities:

Having been closed for the past four months and to be opened on October 26, 2018, the residents of Boracay are in need as their livelihoods have been affected. PCCI Boracay called out for help and in response, PCCI Iloilo made Boracay the beneficiaries of the Iloilo Business Week 2018.

Ms. Elena Brugger, the president of PCCI Boracay told Panay News: “We are grateful in PCCI Boracay that we are the beneficiaries of the first Iloilo Business Week. Of course, this is kind of a great there’s a story in every product that they are presenting. We are packaging what is Western Visayas all about. As we said, winners anticipate and losers react. PCCI Iloilo are anticipating of the opening of Boracay that we will package the Region 6 – that we will present what we have in the registration.”

She added, “it’s a happy gesture for us that there is our fellow businessman who are looking at Boracay as their beneficiaries because we are in closure. We anticipate na ang opening ka Boracay . . . akoon gid ka region nga we have to be proud not only to give to the world not only the beautiful white sand, the beautiful region, but what we have in our region like products, cacao, and bamboo weaved by women.”

So mark your calendars because this is your best six days. It could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for – an opportunity that could lead you to a life changing business.
