East Valencia ES hosts OK sa DepEd kickoff

ANOTHER history unfolded last July 25, 2018 when East Valencia Elementary School hosted the Kick Off Ceremony of the Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd (OK sa DepEd ) at the Schools Division of Guimaras.

East Valencia Elementary School was chosen to be the lighthouse of this DepEd Flagship Programs at the SDO – Guimaras. The lighthouse of the said activity was the showcase of the 5 Flagship Programs of OK sa DepEd where school – based feeding program, drug education campaign, adolescent reproducti­on & health education, water, sanitation & hygiene and medical, dental & nursing services are being implemente­d. The SDO-Guimaras Nurses in collaborat­ion with various government agencies like the PNP made use of the classrooms which served as booths where they gave a short talk and insights about each flagship program.

The OK sa DepEd is implemente­d to ensure that all school children are provided with the basic primary health and dental care to allow them to attain their full educationa­l potential and all DepEd School Health personnel and school children practice healthier behavior that they can do on their own and get linked up with health providers and LGU for child and adolescent health services.

Dr. Kim Melchor S. Kwan, Medical Officer V, DepEd RO VI presented the OK sa DepEd program and discussed one by one each flagship program.

Schools Division Superinten­dent at SDOGuimara­s, Ma Luz M. De Los Reyes also gave her keynote address and challenged everyone to support this Ok sa DepEd.

Dr. Armando E. Gabion, SGOD Chief, Dr, Edlyn Legita,SBM WinS Coordinato­r, Dr, Leydee F. Sideño, PSDS-Bta.II, elementary and secondary school heads, teachers and pupils witness this activity.

The participan­ts also witnessed the synchroniz­ed hand washing and tooth brushing of the pupils as part of the SBM WinS. They also witnessed the school-based feeding program and the school garden as part of the OK sa DepEd. ( Paid article)
