Patizar, WIT escape SanAg in ISSA caging

n a game- winner as Western Institute of Technology escaped with a 99- 98 win over University of San Agustin in tertiary men’s basketball at the 2018 Iloilo Schools Sports Associatio­n Meet.

With two seconds remaining, Patizar eluded the defense to nail the shot that saved WIT at their gym in Iloilo City on Monday.

WIT tallied their second straight nail-biting win after escaping Iloilo Doctors’ College 92-91 on Sept. 19.

Jetly Dolientes led WIT’s charge with 22 points while Marvin Cuerbo added 18 markers for the team ( 2- 0) to surge to solo first place. San Agustin dropped with a 1-1 slate.

Tertiary defending champions John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University captured its first victory after a 72-66 triumph over IDC. Fritchard Dulce Jr. led John B. (1-1) with 30 points. Doctors’ remained winless (0-2).

rt In the lone secondary boys category A match Monday, St. Robert’s Internatio­nal Academy Panda Rockets cruised to an 83-69 win over Sun Yat Sen High School. Dexter Hans Gange and Roy Oscar Jacinto had 18 and 17 points, respective­ly, for the Panda Rockets.

Making t heir second consecutiv­e victory, the Panda Rockets joined defending champions Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix on top of category A (2-0).

Action resumes Wednesday at the WIT gym as Santa Clarita Internatio­nal High School Primes (1-1) takes on Iloilo Scholastic Academy (1- 1) in the lone secondary boys category B match at 10 a.m.

Battling in category A starting at 11:30 a.m. are Ateneo de Iloilo ( 1- 1) and PAREF- Westbridge School for Boys (0-2), Panda Rockets and Red Phoenix, and Sun Yat Sen (0-2) and CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights (1-1)./
