DHSBNHS marks the 2018 Na­tional Sci­ence Month cel­e­bra­tion

PUR­SUANT to the Pres­i­den­tial Procla­ma­tion No. 264 dated Septem­ber 23, 2002, the Na­tional Sci­ence Club Month (NSCM) is cel­e­brated every Septem­ber. It is a month- long cel­e­bra­tion wherein Sci­ence en­thu­si­asts are en­joined to ob­serve.

In this re­gard, Doña Hor­ten­cia Salas Bene­dicto Na­tional High School, Di­vi­sion of La Car­lota City, Ne­gros Oc­ci­den­tal cel­e­brated the Sci­ence Month car­ry­ing the theme “Wave­front: Ac­cen­tu­at­ing Po­ten­tials, Ac­ti­vat­ing Tech­no­log­i­cal Ad­vance­ments”. The cel­e­bra­tion was high­lighted with a pa­rade and an open­ing pro­gram. Right af­ter the pro­gram, an ar­ray of ac­tiv­i­ties were con­ducted like Ta­ble Skirt­ing and Booth Con­test as well as Quiz Bee Con­test. The stu­dents re­ally en­joyed par­tic­i­pat­ing all the ac­tiv­i­ties. The Med­i­cal Mis­sion headed by the rep­re­sen­ta­tives of River­side Col­lege was also held.

On the same view, Fun walk was also held with the par­tic­i­pa­tion of all in­ter­ested stu­dents of the said school.

Like­wise, this year Di­vi­sion Sci­ence fair was held on Septem­ber 28, 2018with the theme “Sci­ence for the Peo­ple In­no­va­tion for Col­lec­tive Pros­per­ity”. It was par­tic­i­pated by the Ju­nior and Se­nior High School stu­dents in the Di­vi­sion.

The ac­tiv­ity pro­motes the re­search pro­gram of DepEd where stu­dents were given an op­por­tu­nity to ap­ply the sci­en­tific method as they con­duct re­search at their young age and of­fered the op­por­tu­nity to ex­plore a broad spec­trum of dis­ci­plines, in­clud­ing so­ci­ol­ogy, ecol­ogy, plant and an­i­mal sci­ences, chem­istry, physics, com­puter sci­ences, elec­tri­cal/ chem­i­cal/civil en­gi­neer­ing, hu­man health, math, and mi­cro­bi­ol­ogy. Spe­cific to the sci­ence fair ex­pe­ri­ence, it is the in­ten­tion that stu­dents will gain valu­able in­quiry skills high­lighted by the op­por­tu­nity to in­tel­li­gi­bly com­mu­ni­cate their find­ings dur­ing the fair it­self. In ad­di­tion , it aims to make Sci­ence prin­ci­ples alive and rel­e­vant and se­lect the most in­no­va­tive and best Sci­ence In­ves­ti­ga­tory Projects who will rep­re­sent the whole di­vi­sion to the Re­gional Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy Fair on Nov. 9 to 11, 2018 .
