Perks of home visitation to learners amid COVID-19

COVID-19 pandemic had brought changes in people’s way of life and brought us all i nto new normal. Education was one of the many sectors who were affected by this pandemic. Education amidst this COVID- 19 continuous­ly takes its place. But how are our learners and their family’s way of life amidst this crisis? How far our learners’ learning? This is how home visitation is very crucial in this time. Here are some of the perks/essence of conducting home visitation to learners:

1. As teachers, you will get to know your learners.

Education in this new normal was done in different learning modalities.

Face to face learning was not allowed/ permitted during this time. So, teachers were not able to meet their learners. Conducting home visitation will acquaint the teacher to their learner and have the chance to know every learner.

2. Help teachers in assessing their learners’ needs and their learning status.

Assessing learners during this time is very hard especially if you do not know your learners. Having home visitation is not only getting to know your learners but as well validate/assess their learning’s and skills.

3. Create positive communicat­ion and build relationsh­ips between teachers and their learners’ families for extending support.

Home visits will allow teachers to see the real- life scenario of every learner and their families. In this way, teachers can create communicat­ion, build relationsh­ips and extend support to families who are in need.

4. Increase parents’ involvemen­t in their child’s education.

Parents’ i nvolvement i n the education of their children is very essential. Learning during this time needs the support of every parents or guardians. Home visitation will encourage parents to support their children’s educationa­l needs.

5. Strengthen home- school partnershi­p.

Strong partnershi­p of parents and school could lead to positive results. Parents who are supportive to the educationa­l needs of their children support the programs, activities and projects of the school.

Conducting home visitation­s during this time could be difficult and could put one at-risk of COVID-19, but with putting one’s health and others on top through the observance of proper health protocols could lead to a productive and safe home visit.
