LONG-DELAYED AIRPORT PROJECT IN NEGROS OCC.

-

NEGROS Occidental will have two airports when the long- delayed Kabankalan City Domestic Airport will finally become operational in addition to the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

But first, the Kabankalan airport runway must be completed (actually,

palabaon with an additional 400 meters). But for the runway to be lengthened, some 100 houses must be displaced. These are actually informal settlers.

Ayon sa aming bubuwit, the local government of Kabankalan in southern Negros Occidental has already identified a relocation site which is just nearby, so convincing the informal settlers to move won’t be a problem.

The Kabankalan City Domestic Airport is probably one of the most delayed airport projects in the country. It was proposed in the 2006 yet during the State of the Nation Address of then Prez GMA.

Construction commenced in March 2007. As of 2022, the installation of concrete for the runway had neared completion, but funds for the construction of the terminal had not yet been allocated. Ahay… Thus, as of 2022 the Kabankalan City Domestic Airport has not yet been classified by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.

When operational, the Kabankalan City Domestic Airport will be beneficial to people in the southern portion of Negros Occidental. Indi na sila magtravel sang malawig pakadto sa Bacolod-Silay Airport which is located in the northern part of Negros Occidental. They will save a lot of precious time, energy, money, and effort traveling.

But the question remains: San-o gid ayhan matapos ang construction sang Kabankalan City Domestic Airport?

Say mo, Mayor Benjie?
