BACOLOD City – Several local and national government offices will have to relocate to make way for the improvements being implemented by the Bacolod City Government.

Engineer Loben Ceballos, officer-in-charge of the City Engineer’s Office, said yesterday that affected government offices will be relocated to a proposed two-hectare site at the Reclamation Area in Barangay 8.

The bidding f or t he rehabilitation of the old city hall may commence this month, Ceballos disclosed. It houses the offices of the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, among others.

Some offices of the city government will utilize the site as well as their temporary place of business while the old city hall in the downtown area is under renovation.

Offices of the Commission on Election and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group situated beside the Bacolod Arts and Youth Sports Center, which will be affected by the project of a large property developer, will also have to transfer to the site.

In anticipation of this project under a private-public partnership, the construction of Police Station 1 was included in the proposed site. It is presently situated in front of the public plaza.

Ceballos clarified that the site in Barangay 8 has no allocation yet since the city is still clearing the area of informal settlers.

Construction f or t he Nutrition Office building in the same area, meanwhile, already has a budget, and the bidding will take off anytime soon, he added./
