According to Police Staff Sergeant John Francyl Roga, investigator of the Kalibo Municipal Police Station, some members of the Lagalag and Bayangan bands engaged in a physical altercation while performing.

Videos c a ptured by spectators circulating social media platforms show the band members playing drums and lyres before chaos ensues. Musical instruments and chairs were reportedly used in the altercation, as depicted in video footages.

Law enforcement swiftly intervened to disperse the commotion.

Initial reports indicate that there were individuals injured during the incident; Roga said an investigation is ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the situation.

In response to this, Kalibo Mayor Juris Bautista Sucro will issue an executive order banning the two bands from participating in any further sadsad and merrymaking activities related to the AtiAtihan Festival.

“We are committed to maintaining the integrity and festive spirit of Ati-Atihan and will not allow the actions of a few to tarnish this important religious and cultural event,” Sucro said./
