Tay Tung, St. John, CSA-B stay perfect in UNBL
BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts, St. John’s Institute Falcons, and Colegio de San Agustin Bacolod remained perfect after four games in the 2nd United Negros Basketball League.
The Thunder bolts continued their blazing start in the tournament as they defeated Alangilan National High School, 120- 41, at the Msgr. John Liu Activity Center, St. John’s Institute here.
Paul Adrian Barcelona spearheaded the offense for the Thunderbolts with 30 points, Tobby Orbista added 26 markers, Jameer Angelo Gapusan made 12 points, while James Carlo Ramos and Seth Guarino ended with 10 each.
St. John’ s Institute, meanwhile, overcame a sluggish start to score a 79-61 victory over the Bata National High School as they joined the Thunderbolts on top of Bracket B with 4-0 count.
Lorenzo Joaquin Lacson powered his way with 28 points to claim the Player of the Game honors, Will Anthony Sy nailed 17 markers, while Ryton Celis dumped 14 points for the Falcons.
Colegio De San AgustinBacolod, meanwhile, secured the top seed in Bracket A with their fourth straight win in as many games after dominating La Consolacion College of Bacolod, 76-37.
CSA- B relied on t he balanced offense led by Jerry Binguan III with eight points, John Christopher Matavia, Albert Christian Melgar, Lance Andrew Arrey, John Dave Parohinog, Khian Gawan, and Randolf Magbanua Jr. contributed six points each.
Trinity Christian School was unable to join CSA-B on top of Group A as they suffered a 66-56 defeat to the Colegio De Sta. Ana De Victorias. Both teams now have a 3-1 winloss slate.
Anacito Docto led the way for CSAV with 14 points, Efren Manday added 13 markers, while Gabrielle Soberano contributed 12 markers, and Rhojun Tenacio dropped nine points.
Meanwhile, University of St. La Salle-Bacolod came from behind to defeat St. Joseph School La Salle, 62-55. John Paul Cabayao top-scored for the winning team with 15 points./
