RDEU-6 chief conferred with heroism medal

ILOILO City – The chief of the Police Regional Office 6’ s ( PRO- 6) Regional Drug Enforcemen­t Unit ( RDEU) was awarded with heroism medal in recognitio­n of his unit’s successful seizure of P40.8 million worth of shabu.

Philippine National Police ( PNP) chief General Benjamin A cord a Jr ., Department of Interior and Local Government ( DILG) secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. and Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin, executive secretary of the Office of the President, conferred the award to RDEU- 6 chief Captain Glen Soliman during the 33rd PNP anniversar­y celebratio­n in Camp Crame on Monday, Jan. 29.

Soliman said it’s an honor for him and his men that their antidrug efforts were acknowledg­ed.

He added this was the second medal he received; the first one was in 2022 for the seizure of two kilos of shabu.

“We are thankful sa PNP organizati­on kay nakita nila ang aton paghimakas sa pagtapna sang drugs. I received medal in behalf of my men. Rest assured that we will not stop fighting against illegal drugs,” Soliman said.

Bersamin, meanwhile, expressed his profound appreciati­on and sincere acknowledg­ment of t he awardees’ personal and profession­al achievemen­ts as members of the PNP.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor also lauded the RDEU-6.

“We congratula­te our RDEU personnel for a job well done. It only showed the dedication and sincerity in the fight against drugs,” he said.

On Dec. 17, 2023, RDEU-6 led by Soliman seized P40.8 million worth of shabu from drug suspects Miklyn Acosta and certain “Koikoi” in Sitio Siga2, Barangay Don T. Lutero East in Janiuay, Iloilo.

The approximat­ely six kilograms of shabu – the biggest single- operation confiscati­on of illegal drugs in Western Visayas in 2023 – was intended for distributi­on last Christmas season and Dinagyang Fe s t i val i n January, police said./
