FOR BETTTER DINAGYANG PROMOTION AND COVERAGE

-

FOR THE FIRST TIME in the history of the Dinagyang, there was no “media night” in the 2024 edition of the festival. But not only that. The organizers kuno have scant engagement with the media, particularly those based in Iloilo. Why?

Some keen observers even went as far as saying that media – mainstream and nonmainstream – based elsewhere got better treatment than the Iloilo-based media. May discrimination? Haslo! Iloilo-based media have been consistently giving favorable reportage on the Dinagyang for months.

The importance of engaging media professionals in the Dinagyang cannot be overemphasized. They play a crucial role in highlighting the festival’s activities, which can attract tourists and participants.

Even the practice of having a “media night” has a valuable purpose. It provides a platform for interaction between festival organizers, participants, and media professionals. Such interaction can foster better understanding and coverage of Dinagyang’s events and significance.

Disseminating information about the festival, such as schedules, events, and any special announcements, is crucial. This helps in ensuring accurate and comprehensive coverage of the Dinagyang.

Engaging the media is also a way to promote future events and activities related to the Dinagyang, ensuring continued interest and coverage in subsequent years.

In other words, building a strong relationship between the festival organizers and the media is important to ensure the Dinagyang’s successful promotion and coverage.

Say mo, Inday Perl?
