WHY SOME PEOPLE ARE VULNERABLE TO SOCIAL MEDIA LOVE SCAMS

-

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Iloilo City Field Unit warned Ilonggos about social media love scams. Indi gid kuno magpatonto!

Social media love scams, also known as romance scams, are a type of online fraud where scammers create fake profiles on social media platforms, dating websites, or apps to establish romantic or intimate relationships with unsuspecting individuals.

The primary aim of these scammers is usually to defraud victims of money, but this can also involve identity theft and other forms of financial exploitation.

A lack of awareness about the prevalence and methods of online scams can make individuals more vulnerable. They may not recognize the signs of a scam or understand how sophisticated these schemes can be.

Those who are not as experienced or knowledgeable about digital safety may not be aware of the risks of sharing personal information online or may not know how to verify the identity of someone they meet online.

Why dome some people get easily victimized by social media love scammers? It’s due to a combination of psychological, emotional, and social factors. These scammers exploit basic human desires for companionship, love, and connection.

Individuals who feel lonely or isolated may crave connection and companionship, making them susceptible to the advances of scammers who provide attention and affection.

The desire for romantic love can lead individuals to overlook red flags and rationalize suspicious behavior because they want to believe in the possibility of a genuine connection. In short, ang mga desperado kag desperada sa paghigugma ang pirma mabiktima. Tarsa!
