Kiefer Ravena, Shiga repeat over Yamagata in Japan

MANILA – Kiefer Ravena and Shiga Lakes scored a repeat win over Yamagata Wyverns, 107- 92, in Japan B. League Division 2 on Sunday night at the Yamagata Prefectura­l Sports Park.

The Iloilo City- native guard finished with 20 points, including three three- point conversion­s, to go with five rebounds and one steal as the Lakes improved to a 29- 12 win-loss slate.

“It was a good game and we had 31 assists, which I think was the result of everyone working for the team instead of being selfish.

We would like to continue this trend,” Ravena said in a post-game interview.

“I think we played pretty good defense in the first half, but Yamagata made extremely tough shots, especially in the third quarter. However, I think we were able to play according to our game plan the entire 40 minutes, so we will focus on that,” he added.

Brock Motum top-scored for the Lakes with 21 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, while Ryan Kriener and James Burrell chipped i n 19 and 18 markers, respective­ly.

James Bell drilled five three- point conversion­s to finish with 26 points for the Wyverns, Shinya Murakami added 11 markers, while Timothy Holyfield chipped in 10 points in the loss.

Filipino-American guard Roosevelt Adams ended up with 18 points, with two outside shots, to go with eight rebounds, and one steal for the Wyverns, which dropped to a 20-21 record.

Meanwh i l e , G r egory Slaughter and Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka exacted their revenge on Koshigaya Alphas with a dominant 81- 66 victory over at the Koshigaya City Gymnasium.

The former Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings center, however, was not utilized by Fukuoka head coach Moncho Lopez as they improved their record to 2813. The Alphas dropped to 25-16.

Takayuki Kodama topscored for Fukuoka with 18 points, Shuki Shigetomi and Gavin Ware added 13 markers apiece, Hiroki Taniguchi ended with 12, while Pablo Aguilar and Bryce Washington contribute­d 11 markers each./
