PSA Guimaras releases over 40K nat’l IDs in 2023

-

THE Philippine Statistics Authority ( PSA)- Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office issued 40,450 printable or digital version of the electronic Philippine IDs (ePhilIDs) in 2023.

“Surpassing the annual target of 29,940 ePhilIDs distribution and reaching the 135.10 percent accomplishment are among the milestones in 2023 we could be proud of,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.

Of the 40,450 issuances, 1,547 recipients had earned their ePhilIDs through mode 1, while 38,903 Guimarasnons obtained their ePhilIDs through mode 2.

“For mode 1, issuance of the ePhilID is by appointment system, in which the registered individual is the one who shall claim his/her ePhilID at the Registration Center (RC), PSA office in Jordan, and mode 2, where printing and delivery takes place,” Losare said.

She expounded that the PSA central office downloaded the PDF format of printable ePhilIDs (password protected) to the provincial statistical offices for printing and verification/validation in the Fixed Registration Center, and the step 3 team is authorized to deliver the ePhilIDs to the scheduled barangay.

Of the total ePhilIDs issuances and deliveries, 11,135 were issued/ delivered to Nueva Valencia; 6,389 to Sibunag; 7,427 to Jordan; 11,007 to Buenavista; and 4,492 to San Lorenzo.

The issuance and distribution of ePhilIDs formally began on Oct. 3, 2022, in compliance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to print 50 million PhilIDs by the end of 2022, with 30 million PVC and 20 million paper type, also known as printed ePhilIDs.

According to Losare, the ePhilID is a printable form of the PhilID that complements the continuing production of Physical PhilID, by which the owner could use it in transacting official business in lieu of their physical PhilID.

She further explained that the printed ePhilID is a proactive PSA technique to allow enrolled users to instantly take advantage of the benefits of PhilID, such as faster and smoother transactions in accessing economic and societal safety services that need confirmation of identification, subject to authentication.

“The ePhilIDs have the same functionality and validity as the physical card, and it is free of charge,” Losare explained.

“Even if they have already claimed their printed ePhilIDs, every registered person will still receive their physical card,” Losare clarified.

Losare further stated that to obtain a printed ePhilID, an applicant must confirm the availability of their transaction number in the transaction slip provided after completing step 2 registration.

“Another mode i s by appointment, wherein an applicant may set an appointment using the link appt. philsys.gov.ph to the nearest PhilSys Registration Center or via walk-in for printing,” Losare explained./
