Comelec urges voters to register early
BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections ( Comelec) is urging voters to register early and not wait for the deadline set in September this year.
Voters’ registration for the 2025 midterm elections kicked off on Feb. 12 and will run until Sept. 30, 2024.
“Panawagan gid i ndi na paghulaton ang l ast month, last week kag last few days nga magkadto sa aton different registration centers. We have all the time from today ( Feb. 23) up to the last day of the registration on Sept. 30,” said Comelec Region 6 director Atty. Dennis Ausan during yesterday’s 2024 Voter Education and Registration Fair in this city.
This city’s voter education and registration fair accommodated individuals who are in the city but cannot return to their municipalities and cities.
“Amo ni precisely ang purpose nga nag- open ( registration fair) kita para ma- akomodar ang working naton nga mga kautoran, ang students nga wala tiempo Mondays to Fridays,” Ausan added.
For her part, City Comelec officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña said those who did not make it to the registration fair can still register through the Registration Anywhere Program (RAP) at the third floor of SM City Bacolod.
Ausan added the city and municipal election offices are accepting applications from Monday to Friday, including Saturdays and all holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Any Filipino citizen who is not yet a registered voter may apply for registration, provided he or she possesses the following qualifications:
* At least 18 years old on the day of the National and Local Elections
*A resident of the Philippines for at least one year and in the place wherein he or she proposes to vote for at least six months immediately preceding the national and local elections.
*Not otherwise disqualified by law/
