335,155 WV learners pre-register for SY 2024-2025

I LOILO City – The Department of Education (DepEd) Region 6 has so far recorded 335,155 learners in Western Visayas who have registered early for the School Year (SY) 2024-2025.

Public schools’ early registrati­on for incoming kindergart­en, and grades 1, 7 and 11 learners began on January 27 and ended on February 23.

Incoming Grade 1 learners recorded the most number of registrant­s at 95,384, followed by Grade 11 (86,930), Grade 7 (86,808), and kindergart­en (67,033).

Here is the breakdown per Schools Division Offices (SDOs):

* Aklan – 21,607

* Antique – 28,298 * Bacolod City – 17,170 * Bago City – 2,900 * Cadiz City – 8,270

* Capiz – 32,058 * Escalante City – 5,290 * Guimaras – 8,568 * Himamaylan City – 6,591 * Iloilo – 90,392

* Iloilo City – 14,660 * Kabankalan City - 9,323 * La Carlota City – 2,735 * Negros Occidental – 52,270

* Passi City – 3,874

* Roxas City - 5,400 * Sagay City – 7,666

* San Carlos City – 3,616 * Silay City – 5,355 * Sipalay City – 4,784 * Victorias City – 4,328 Hernani Escullar Jr ., DepEd-6 regional informatio­n officer, said the number of early registrant­s would still go up as encoding of schools of Basic Education Enrollment Forms submitted by parents or guardians is still ongoing.

Early registrati­on of l earners, Escullar said, is important for DepEd to allocate resources and plan out necessary measures for the start of SY 2024-2025.
