Farm Fresh outduels Capital1 for 1st win on PVL

MANILA – Farm Fresh Foxies bounced back from their season- opener defeat with a dominant 25-16, 25-17, 25-16 victory over Capital1 Solar Energy Solar Spikers in the PVL 1st All- Filipino Conference on Thursday night at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Player of the Game Chinnie Arroyo, who scored 11 points, emphasized that correcting their mistakes f rom the previous four- set defeat to the Creamline Cool Smashers was crucial for their bounceback victory.

“In our first game, we had a lot of errors. We just applied correction­s to address the deficienci­es in this game,” said Arroyo, who signed up with the Foxies following the disbandmen­t of the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers.

Trisha Tubu spearheade­d the Farm Fresh team with 15 points, while Kate Santiago added six markers. Alyssa Bertolano and Sofia Ildefonso chipped in five points each as they improved to a 1-1 record under the guidance of coach Jerry Yee.

“May mga konting lapses pa rin, pero alam namin na mapopolish pa talaga,” said Tubu. “Marami rin kaming natutunan sa first game na alam namin na makakatulo­ng sa team sa buong season.”

Sydney Niegos top-scored for Capital1 with nine points, while Heather Guino-o, Janeca Lana, Katherine Villegas, Lourdes Clemente, and Shirley Salamagos added three points each for the Solar Spikers, which slipped to 0-2.

Meanwhile, defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers leaned on Diana Carlos’ career-game as they prevailed over Akari Power Chargers in four sets, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-19.

The three-time PVL Most Valuable Player winner finished with a career- high of 31 points, including 30 attacks ( on 55.5 percent efficiency) to be named Player of the Game for the Cool Smashers.

New recruits Bea de Leon and Denden Lazaro-Revilla also

made their presence felt for the defending champions Cool Smashers as they moved to a share of top spot with 2-0 winloss slate.
