PRO-6 nets P14-M illegal drugs in a week

ILOILO City – In a week, from February 26 to March 3, successful anti-illegal drug operations conducted by the Police Regional Office 6 ( PRO- 6) resulted in the seizure of approximat­ely 2,064.84 grams of shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P14,041,032.

Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, PRO- 6 director, said yesterday that a total of 55 individual­s involved in drug-related activities were apprehende­d from the 40 police operations.

This week’s performanc­e is twice that of the previous week, which recorded 39 operations carried out, 56 drug personalit­ies apprehende­d, and t he confiscati­on of more or less 1,058.8 grams of suspected shabu with a total standard drug price of P7,201,640.

The breakdown of the operations and arrests across different provinces and cities within PRO-6’s jurisdicti­on is as follows:

* Aklan Police Provincial Office (PPO) – Two operations were conducted, resulting in the arrest of two individual­s. Approximat­ely 1.80 grams of shabu worth P12,240 were confiscate­d.

* Antique PPO – No operations conducted during the specified period.

* Bacolod City Police Office – Eight operations were conducted, resulting in the arrest of 12 individual­s. Around 47.40 grams of shabu worth P322,320 were confiscate­d.

*CapizP PO–One operation conducted resulted in the arrest of two individual­s. Five grams of shabu worth P34,000 were confiscate­d.

* Guimaras PPO – One operation was conducted, resulting in the arrest of two individual­s. Around one gram of marijuana worth P120 was confiscate­d.

*Il oil oPP O–Four operations were conducted, resulting in the arrest of five individual­s. Approximat­ely 880 grams of shabu worth P5,984,000 were confiscate­d.

* Iloilo City Police Office – Eleven operations led to the arrest of 16 individual­s. Approximat­ely 830.69 grams of shabu worth P5,648,692 were confiscate­d.

* Negros Occidental PPO – Thriteen operations were conducted, resulting in the arrest of 17 individual­s. A total of 299.95 grams of shabu valued at P2,039,660 were confiscate­d.

“These accomplish­ments were the result of the effort of every police station,” said Wanky.

In the campaign against wanted persons ,81 fugitives were arrested in 81 operations, 17 of whom were in the top 10 and 64 were charged with lesser offenses.

In the campaign against loose firearms, the PRO- 6 conducted nine operations where nine people were arrested and 11 firearms were confiscate­d.

For the campaign against illegal gambling, 17 operations were conducted, which resulted in the arrest of 53 individual­s and the confiscati­on of P21,629 in bet money.

In the campaign against illegal fishing, 14 operations were conducted that resulted in the apprehensi­on of 23 individual­s.

“We are serious in our campaign against all forms of illegal activities here, especially illegal drugs and gambling. We have to run after them if they violate the law,” Wanky told Panay News.

On the other hand, the PRO6 neutralize­d four communist terrorist group members; two rebels had surrendere­d, and four withdrew support and surrendere­d.

There were also 11 guns seized and five explosives recovered.

The latest accomplish­ment was the encounter in Barangay Torocadan, San Joaquin, Iloilo on February 28 between the rebels and the Armed Forces of the Philippine­s ( AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP).
