ANTIQUE HAS NOTHING TO LOSE AND EVERYTHING TO GAIN IF…

-

OF THE FOUR provinces in Panay Island, only Antique has one congressional district. Not a few Antiqueños say this one of the reasons why naulihi gid sa tabdaban ang probinsya ni Datu Sumakwel.

Consider this: Aklan has only 17 towns but it has two congressional districts. Capiz has only 16 towns and one city but it has two districts.

Te, ang Antique ya which has 18 towns, isa lang ang distrito? Haslo!

It is time for Antique to have two congressional districts just like Aklan and Capiz. This brings several advantages:

* Enhanced Representation – With two congressional districts, the interests and concerns of the people in Antique would be more specifically addressed. This is because each representative would have a smaller geographic area and population to represent, allowing them to be more attuned to the local needs and issues.

* Increased Funding and Resources – More representatives in Congress could potentially lead to an increase in government funding and resources allocated to the province. Each district could advocate for its own projects and needs, possibly leading to more balanced development across Antique.

* Improved Constituent Services – With a smaller constituency to serve, representatives could provide better constituent services. They could be more accessible to the people, respond more quickly to concerns, and tailor their services to meet the specific needs of their district.

* Focused Development Projects – Different areas within Antique may have diverse needs and priorities. With two districts, development projects can be more focused and aligned with the local needs, whether it’s infrastructure, education, healthcare, or economic development.

Antique has nothing to lose but everything to gain if it has two congressional districts.

As the current sole congressman of Antique, Antiqueños have high expectations that Toto AA would initiate moves for their province to have two congressional districts.

Has he? Or has ne not?

Say mo, Gov. Dodod?
