Hogtied victim found in NegOcc town identified

BACOLOD City – The lifeless body of a man recovered i n Negros O c c i d e n t a l ’ s D o n Salvador Benedicto town has now been identified by the authoritie­s.

The victim, 29- yearold Allen Palmos, was a resident of Barangay Estefania in Bacolod City.

Estefania village chief Engr. Jerry Tingson said Palmos was identified as a drug personalit­y in the village and has also been involved in several snatching incidents.

Tingson disclosed that Palm os had previously served jail time, although he was unable to ascertain how many years the victim served his sentence.

In a statement by the victim’s friend, only identified by the alias “Don,” he claimed that Palmos had served several jail terms— first at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Bacolod City’s Barangay Taculing, a one- year prison sentence at the Negros Occidental District Jail, and another one year in Muntinlupa City.

All of his prison time was reportedly due to illegal drugs and theftrelat­ed charges.

According to the Don Salvador Benedicto municipal police, Palmos’ remains were found along the national highway in Purok Cobra, Barangay Igmayaan, at approximat­ely 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 9.

Palmos was hogtied with a cable tie, and his head was covered with a shirt. The victim also has a laceration on his neck.

The victim was reportedly last seen alive on March 7, when he left their house.

Tingson added that Palmos was the only male sibling of three. They were reportedly raised by their grandmothe­r, as their father passed away early and their mother left them young.

Palmos’ remains have since been turned over to his family after he was positively identified by his sister.

The police are also now investigat­ing to determine the suspect( s) behind the murder.
