Liza Soberano graces first Ho Chi Minh Internatio­nal Film Festival

LIZ A Sober a no was effortless­ly elegant as she graced t he culminatin­g ceremony of the first Ho Chi Minh Internatio­nal Film Festival as a jury member and presenter held in Vietnam last April 13.

Sober a no looked breathtaki­ng in a custom black gown by Anthony Ramirez, while her look was put together by fashion stylist Perry Tabora, makeup artist Mickey See, and hairstylis­t Renz Pangilinan.

The actress t ook t o her Instagram account on Sunday, April 14, to express her delight to be part of the Vietnam-based event which was a “showcase of talented filmmakers” from different parts of the world.

“So thrilled and honored to have served as a jury member for the first- ever Ho Chi Minh Internatio­nal Film Festival. Was such an amazing showcase of talented filmmakers from all over the world,” she wrote.

Soberano also said that being part of the event inspired her to “continue working” in an industry that pushes for “freedom of expression and challenges [how people] think.”

“Truly so i nspired to continue working i n an industry that encourages f reedom of expression and challenges the way we think. Congratula­tions to all winners,” she added.

The actress’ hairstylis­t also shared behind- the- scenes moments of Soberano at the event on his Instagram account.

Aside from presenting the Best Actress Plum, Soberano was named as one of the judges in the ceremony’s First or Second Film category.

She was joined by filmmaker Nguyen Thanh Van, New York Asian Film Festival executive director Samuel Jamier, film producer John Badalu, and film editor Tom Cross.

One of the ceremony’s winners included the Filipino film“The Gospel of the Beast” helmed by filmmaker Sheron Dayoc which bagged the Golden Star Plum for Best Feature Film.
