-

APPLICATIONS for the New Zealand-Asean Scholars (NZAS) program for school year 2016-2017 are now accepted.

The NZ program, through the NZ Aid Program (NZAP), grants scholarships to eligible postgraduate students from the Philippines for development-related studies at a tertiary institution in New Zealand.

Application forms and full details on the scholarship are available on the NZAP website: www.aid.govt.nz/funding-and-contracts/ scholarships/eligible-countries/philippines

A total of 18 scholarships are available for Filipinos who wish to obtain postgraduate degrees (i.e. postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees or doctorates) in New Zealand starting in 2016.

The NZ-Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) program aims to empower individuals to contribute to economic, social and political development within the Asean region.

It also aims to contribute to the achievement of Philippine human resource development objectives, particularly in areas where New Zealand has recognized expertise.

Priority themes for this year are fields related to agriculture, tourism, public sector development, trade and development, disaster risk management and climate change adaptation and renewable energy.

Bato Balani Foundation Inc., which is committed to uplifting the quality of education in the country, is assisting the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, through the New Zealand Embassy in Manila, in the search for Filipino NZ-Asean scholars.

A road show will be brought to key provinces in the country to promote NZAS. It will offer scholarship orientations and consultations.
