Tambunting tops Phoenix Am with 71

JOSEPH Tambunting carded a oneunder-par 71 for 37 points under the Stableford scoring format to bag the overall gross title in the second leg of the Phoenix Premium 98 Amateur Open presented by Mechatrend­s at the Legends course of Manila Southwoods in Carmona, Cavite, recently.

Tambunting took advantage of his home-course knowledge to the hilt in sharing the limelight with Raul Magpantay, who seized low-net honors with a 45 in the tournament staged by Phoenix Petroleum Philippine­s.

Former profession­al Eddie Bagtas won by countback over Brixton Aw and Manfred Guangko in the Open Class of the tournament also supported by Magsaysay Transport & Logistics Services and BDO-Unibank.

Bong Brobio carded a net 35 to rule Class A over Thirdy Escano and Philippine­s Sports Commission Chair Richie Garcia, who each made 32. Colin Rat- cleiff (Class B), Dan Reyes (Class C), and Ermie Adlawan (Class D) were the other division winners.
