Transformative traveling featured in Southern, Northern Living
How traveling has transformed singer-songwriter Armi Millare, photographer Jake Verzosa, and interior designer Mark Wilson is tackled in this month’s issues of Northern Living and Southern Living magazines.
“When you reach a certain age, those dreams of a nomadic life don’t really go away. But then again, you have a reality at arms’ reach every time you come home,” says Millare.
Millare and her boyfriend, photographer Jake Verzosa, are on the cover of Northern Living. Although travelling is part of their respective work, the couple say they squeeze in time to rest.
Meanwhile, Wilson, an interior and lighting designer, graces the cover of Southern Living. “I don’t want to be a designer with a signature style,” he says. “I want my client to say, ‘I achieved this because Mark understood me.’”
Wilson says he travels to unfamiliar places to learn something new.
Northern Living also features the surfing lifestyle. “I moved to Baler because it doesn’t feel modern,” says Carmen Araneta.
Monika Rivilla, who has settled in Siargao, says: “Siargao is beautiful and well-maintained compared to many local beaches I have visited. But with progress, the production of waste is inevitable.”
Free diving in Batangas is also documented with a profile on Martin Zapanta. Architect Monika Rivilla utilizes waste from the island to build structures.
Spaghetti made healthy
Does zucchini have a place in your plate of spaghetti? Nolisoli.ph’s second cooking class says so.
The class, led by Hinge Inquirer group publisher Bea Ledesma, covered the steps to make zucchini noodles, chicken meatballs, and fresh tomato sauce using organic ingredients from Holy Carabao Holistic Farms.
At the Bulthaup kitchen showroom, guests tried the low-carb spaghetti with meatballs dish. Among the guests were Jigs Mayuga, Meryll Soriano, Nikki Luna, Armi Millare, Bea Constantino, Cat JuanLedesma and Sonja Ocampo.
“Healthy and holistic doesn’t have to be boring,” says Holy Carabao cofounder Melanie Go. “The recipe with spiralized zucchini, cheese, and meatballs is a meal in itself.”
