New nonstick pans make kitchen cleanups easier
The Tefal brand is known for its nonstick pots and pans. Founded 60 years ago in France, the cookware and small appliance brand innovated the combination of Teflon and aluminum that homemakers considered a godsend: cleanup after meals became easier and didn’t require as much elbow grease.
Since then, the brand has come up with newer products including some that incorporate a material much lighter than aluminum.
Rustan Marketing Corp., distributors of Tefal and other premier homeware brands, recently launched Tefal’s Titanium Cookware range via an outdoor cookout at B Hotel in Quezon City. Culinary ambassadors namely Tefal resident chef Deejay Santos, chef Portia Baluyut of Rustic Mornings by Isabelo, and chef Miko Aspiras of Le Petit Soufflé prepared several dishes using the new cookware.
Using pans from the Tefal Titanium Pleasure, Santos prepared Beef and Veggie Wraps and Mole Poblano Quesadilla. Baluyut tried out the Tefal Titanium Character range for her Prawn and Chorizo Risoni while Aspiras used the Tefal Titanium Expertise for two desserts: Chocolate Crepes, Cream Cheese and Summer Berry Compote and Faux Carbonara.
Although Aspiras’ desserts were a bit complicated for the weekend cook, his Faux Carbonara that is consisted of crushed graham crackers, walnuts, apples, mangoes and a cured egg yolk was fresh, interesting and really looked like the popular pasta dish.
“These titanium sets are really investment pieces for serious cooks and home chefs,” said brand manager Mags Magao. “They’re lighter than aluminum pans but they can last anywhere from six to 12 years.”
The new designs can be bought by the piece or as a set. Magao said that some shoppers purchased a pan to try out at home before committing and buying a whole set. A single piece, like the grill pan from the top of the line Titanium Expertise range, retails for close to P7,000.
The high price is due to the brand’s exclusive and patented hard base coating that is reinforced with titanium particles. Its Titanium Excellence coating lasts up to three times longer and can resist 12 years of daily use.
Tefal cookware is exclusively distributed by Rustan Marketing Corp. and is available in leading department stores nationwide.
