President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating plunged to a new personal low, falling in almost all areas, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The noncommissioned Second Quarter Social Weather Report, conducted from June 27 to 30, found that 65 percent of 1,200 respondents were satisfied with the President and 20 percent were dissatisfied, resulting in a net satisfaction rating (satisfied minus dissatisfied) of a “good” plus 45.

SWS grades

This was an 11-percentage point decline and one grade down from his “very good” plus 56 (70 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) in March and surpassed his previous personal low of “good” plus 48 in September 2017.

SWS considers a rating of plus 70 and above as “excellent”; plus 50 to plus 69 as “very good”; plus 30 to plus 49, “good”; plus 10 to plus 29, “moderate”; plus 9 to minus 9, “neutral”; minus 10 to minus 9, “poor”; minus 30 to minus 49, “bad”; minus 50 to minus 69, “very bad”; minus 70 and below, “execrable.”

According to SWS, the decline was due to his rating decline in almost all areas. Across geographic areas, the President’s net satisfaction rating went down 20 points in Metro Manila (plus 34 from plus 54), six points in the rest of Luzon (plus 33 from plus 39), 18 points in the Visayas (plus 47 from plus 65) and six points in Mindanao (plus 76 from plus 82).

Mr. Duterte’s net score in ur- ban areas dropped from “very good” plus 56 to “good” plus 38, while it remained “good” in rural areas, dropping from plus 56 to plus 52.

Favorable rating

The President’s net satisfaction rating went up among members of Class ABC (plus 66 from plus 63) and Class E (plus 52 from plus 48) but declined to “good” plus 43 from “very good” plus 57 among members of Class D.

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating fell 12 points among men (plus 46 from plus 58) and nine points among women (plus 45 from plus 54).

The survey involved face-toface interviews with 1,200 adults and had a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3 percentage points.
