WRITERS’ WORKSHOP IN LOCAL LANGUAGES CALLS FOR APPLICATIONS
Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center (BNSCWC) of De La Salle University invites undergraduate and graduate students in Metro Manila to submit their application for Luntiang Palihan 2021: The DLSU Young Writers’ Workshop in Local Languages (Waray and Filipino), which will be held online on Aug. 7.
The workshop aims to promote creative writing in local languages and to hone the craft of talented individuals who have the potential to contribute to the growth of Philippine literature.
This year’s languages are Waray and Filipino. Applicants must be 18 to 39 years old. Five to six applicants will be chosen for the workshop.
Applicants should submit the following:
PDF of the cover letter stating the applicant’s reasons for applying to the workshop and his or her writing goals. The letter should be addressed to workshop director, Dr. John
Iremil Teodoro.
PDF of a short resumé that must contain the applicant’s ID photo, date of birth, university, degree and complete contact information (home address, email address and contact number).
DOCx of the original work (Filipino or Bikol): three poems or one short story, font size 12 points, double-spaced, 1 inch by 1 inch margin. The short story must be numbered, by paragraph, on the left margin. Works in Waray must be accompanied by a translation in Filipino or English.
File names must contain the surname of the applicant and language of the work (e.g., Bautista
LPWaray CV.PDF). Email application portfolio to bnscwc@dlsu.edu.ph. In the subject, put Luntiang Palihan 2021.
Submission deadline is May 31. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
