‘My success is rooted in everything I learned from you’

- Dearest Mom, Cyndi Cyndi Fernandez-Beltran, Moss Design House principal designer, is the daughter of Dr. Cynthia Fernandez.

Thursdays. I remember very well how much this day meant to us when we were growing up. I recall running to gate 3 with my sisters, knowing that it was the only day of the week you’d pick us up in school. I would always get so excited because not only do I get to brag about my pretty mom to my friends, I also get to spend time quality time with you despite your demanding schedule as a doctor.

There are so many beautiful stories to reminisce about from our childhood. Some are really funny ones, some are trivial, but all of which we have learned from. My sisters and I talk about how the values you and Papa have set—the appreciation of family is the reason we all grew up so close despite the geographical distance we have chosen to live with.

Reflecting on myself, I have always attributed my own journey to many inspiring women who have shaped my life, none more so than you. From raising four daughters to excelling in your career, nurturing a beautiful marriage, consistently being a good wife, honoring your parents and remaining an obedient child of God, you have been my epitome of grace and strength. You have juggled all of these so well and I have always wondered, how could you have done so with so much grace? Until now, your examples have been my compass and guide as I continue my path of raising a family while fully realizing the person I am destined to be.

I don’t think there will ever be enough words and actions to show how much we love you. You’re the absolute reason I am who I am and why I strive to be the best in everything that I do. My success is rooted in everything I learned from you. You taught me that there is no substitute for hard work, and that is the only way to advance in life.

You are my safety net, you are the person I run to when things seem hopeless. I get answers from you even when you have nothing to say.

You’ve shown us how to love unconditionally, accepting of each other’s faults, learning that being right doesn’t mean you always have to prove that you are right. You’ve set the bar so high, Mom, but my sisters and I are doing our best to follow in your footsteps.

We promise to always take care of you, as you have taken good care of us. I hope I make you proud each day and that in my own little way, I get to give back even a fraction of all the goodness you’ve given us. My life will always be rooted in and anchored by your love, and despite me getting caught up in everyday work, please know how much you are appreciated.

The kids and I love you so much, Mom. Happy Mother’s Day!
