BULL SESSION LIFTS FILIPINO SPIKERS’ SPIRIT
UST-KAMENOGORSK,
KAZAKHSTAN— Coach Francis Vicente called for an evening practice on the day Rebisco PSL Manila received a thorough beating from Tianjin Bohai Bank of China.
But instead of working on plays, they used the time to have a heart-to-heart talk.
“I saw that the players were disheartened today,” said Vicente. “And it’s because of many factors. But what I like with this team is that we easily banded together although this is technically just our third match as one team.”
Vicente said one major factor was the lack of international experience considering that the ongoing Asian Women’s Club Championship marks only the first time the squad went out of the country to compete.
On Monday, the Philippines faces Supreme of Thailand, which swept Group A by demolishing host Altay, Taiwan Power and Sarmayeh Bank of Iran. The Filipinos dropped all three games and will vie for fifth to eighth places.
Game time is 2 p.m. (4 p.m. in Manila).
