More than 30,000 visit Taiwan Expo in the Philippine­s

In an effort to bring the Taiwan experience closer to the Filipinos, Taiwan External Trade Developmen­t Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan Associatio­n Inc. Philippine­s, in partnershi­p with the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), presented the best of its culture, tourism, and technology to the country through the Taiwan Expo held at the SMX Convention Center Manila. More than 30,000 visited the show, proving that there is a great interest in the Philippine­s to explore opportunit­ies to do business, study, work, and travel in Taiwan.

The expo highlights include the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion, which showcased 85 awardwinni­ng products that have been handpicked by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Taiwan External Trade Developmen­t Council for being exemplary examples of innovation and value.

Trade visitors also witnessed the rich blend of modern and traditiona­l culture as they were treated to daily world-class performanc­es from Judy’s Harmonica Ensemble, which played Freddie Aguilar’s top hit Anak along with some classic songs from Taiwan, and the Formosa Circus Art Group as well as a gourmet show teaching attendees how to create Taiwan’s best delicacies in their own kitchen.

During the event’s opening ceremony, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippine­s representa­tive Mr. Gary Song-Huann Lin confirmed that Filipinos may now visit Taiwan with its newly approved visa-free policy, marking the strengthen­ed partnershi­ps between Filipinos and the Taiwan community.

Taiwan Expo in the Philippine­s was organized by the Taiwan External Trade Developmen­t Council together with the Taiwan Associatio­n Inc. Philippine­s. It part of a series of events initiated by TAITRA to promote Taiwan across the region. The next leg of the event will be held in Malaysia on November 9 to 11, 2017.
