TEAM PH STRIKES SILVER IN TAIWAN’S AUTO GYMKHANA

-

Team Philippines put up a strong fight behind eighttime Driver of the Year Carlos Anton and four-time Slalom king Milo Rivera as the duo yielded their title in the Asia Auto Gymkhana Competition (AAGC) held recently in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

The tandem disposed of powerhouse Japan in the semifinals to forge a showdown against the hosts, who knocked out Indonesia in the other Final Four match of the Team Double knockout event.

In the end, Taiwan beat the Philippines by a mere 0.1 of a second.

“We gave it our best but Taiwan really got us,” said Anton. “The Taiwanese thanked us for the challenge that motivated them to prepare harder, step up and push their skills to the next level.”

Team Indonesia prevailed over Team Japan for third place with Japanese racing legend Tetsuya Yamano taking home the top prize in the individual knockout competition over Taiwan’s Tseng Kun-Yao.

Anton’s 13-year-old son Iñigo shared the limelight when he outclassed 12 other drivers from nine countries in the exhibition runs.

“It was a dream come true to race with the top racers in Asia,” said Iñigo.
