PUSHER ‘DUTERTE’ ARRESTED, BOLTS TOWN POLICE JAIL

- —JULIE ALIPALA

ZAMBOANGACITY— Adrug peddler known in the community as Duterte was arrested but bolted jail early on Sunday.

Abdusalim Modapil Mangongaya, alias Duterte, was able to slip out from the detention cell of the Margosatubig municipal police station around 2 a.m. on July 8.

Supt. Fergen Torred, chief of the regional intelligence division of the regional police, told the Inquirer that “everything is still sketchy” about how Duterte managed to escape.

Manhunt

He said earlier reports about a jailbreak of several inmates were erroneous because “only one inmate escaped.”

He said police were told the escape happened between 2 to 4 in the morning.

A manhunt for alias Duterte was now ongoing, Torred said.

The Margosatubig municipal police force said in a report that Mangongayawas arrested for possession of drugs on July 5 and faced a charge of violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1972.
