DLSAU-ECCRI founder is new country representa­tive to UNbody

Glenn Banaguas, founder and executive director of the De La Salle Araneta University-Environmen­tal and Climate Change Research Institute (DLSAU-ECCRI), has been appointed as the country representa­tive/consultant of the Philippine­s to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertific­ation (UNCCD).

As country representa­tive, Banaguas’ tasks include resilience building, biodiversi­ty conservati­on, combating land desertific­ation, and climate resilient forest management—all with the end goal of achieving Land Degradatio­n Neutrality in the Philippine­s and in the ASEAN Region.

UNCCD is one of the 1992 Rio Earth Convention­s, together with the Convention on Biological Diversity and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Its main headquarte­rs is in Bonn, Germany,
