As mundane as it may sound, highly recommended are Sugi’s perfect tempuras— particularly the and the shiitake. They are perfectly coated and fried at the exact temperature to produce the wonderful contrast between a crisp coat and the moist interiors. The agedashi tofu is another perfect little start to a meal. It is served at just the right temperature and the sauce is the perfect amount. A simple salted chicken yakitori stick is the go-to counterfoil for all the fried dishes. It is lightly flavoured and clean.
