Redefining Personal Spaces

AT ITS REVAMPED STORE, SIGVARD SELECTIONS INVITES CLIENTS TO ADD A TOUCH OF THEIR OWN STYLE TO BESPOKE HOME DECORATING

-

Jigs Adefuin and Oliver Ortiz, founders of Sigvard Selections, share an interesting business philosophy. In their luxe furniture store, clients are invited to touch, feel, and rest on the pieces, putting an emphasis on their role as creators of their own living spaces. The partners’ passion lies in helping others discover their own aesthetic tastes, Sigvard Selections serving as a playground for inspiration. Since 2014, Adefuin and Ortiz have built up the brand’s furniture and accesory collections. This year, the store adjusted its layout to highlight featured pieces, giving clients a better feel as to how they can fit in one’s home. The new floor plan also emphasises vignettes designed by the two creative partners, making them visible to passers-by and giving a 360° view of the showroom from the outside, bringing out subtle hues and colours from the furnniture and accesories within. While most design stores categorise their furniture collections by item, grouping chairs, sofas, and upholstery together, Sigvard Selections organises by style: an Oriental and South East Asian-inspired East collection, the Mediterrenean-drawn Portofino, a contemporary and casual Kali set, an Art-deco inlfuenced Manhattan collection, and the Old-world flavoured

Traditions line. Each collection feature complete sets of drawers, tables, and chairs to select from. Clients can help in making their own bespoke pieces and choose from different colours and fabrics, including a wide selection of 100 per cent Egyptian cotton that comes in luxurious 300- and 600- thread counts. Complement these with warm Philippine mahogany wood finishes in either matt or sheen. Beautiful things being worth the wait, once one has decided on the look and feel of one’s home and the attendant furniture pieces, each order takes a minimum of 60 days to craft and hand-finish. Adefuin and Ortiz regularly visit both clients’ homes and the Sigvard production sites to guide craftsmen in producing each and every quality piece.
