A Night of Gastronomy
Philippine tatler’s best restaurants 2017 was launched with a gustatory feast
Shangri-La at the Fort was the perfect place to launch the 13th edition of Philippine Tatler’s Best Restaurants Guide (BRG) featuring 172 restaurants. After all, General Manager John Rice described it as the place where “the city comes alive with a wide selection of gastronomic experiences.”
The evening also fêted the Top 20 Restaurants in the country— a list that ran the gamut from casual bistros to venues for Michelin-level fine dining. This illustrious roster consists of Antonio’s, Bondi & Bourke, Brasserie on 3, Canton Road, Château 1771, China Blue, Cru Steakhouse, Crystal Dragon, Donosti, Gallery VASK, Hai Shin Lou, Inagiku, Jasmine, The Pig & Palm, Raging Bull Chophouse and Bar, Sala Bistro, Sirena, Tea of Spring, Terry’s Bistro, and Tsukiji. Plaques of recognition were awarded by Philippine Tatler’s Managing Director, Irene Martel Francisco together with Edipresse Media Asia’s Executive Chairman and CEO Michel Lamunière and Editorial Director for food and wine Charmaine Mok. Major sponsor Lexus Manila, Inc was represented by its president, Raymond Rodriguez; HSBC by its head of retail banking and wealth management, Kris Werner and vice-president for customer value management, Anya Katigbak- Cajucom. Heineken was also a partner.
Guests enjoyed a feast of delectable bites from Shang at the Fort restaurants. Ulysse Jouanneaud, resident mixologist at Raging Bull, presided over the gin botanicals bar to serve intoxicatingly refreshing cocktails with his signature savoir faire. The crowd was impressed even further as the dessert buffet—a silvery display presented in a cloud of ethereal mist—was opened with a grand flourish, serving as the proverbial cherry to top a most delectable event.
