CHOPARD QUEEN OF KALAHARI PARTY
With the dazzling Garden of Kalahari necklace sparkling from her décolletage, the legendary singer Shirley Bassey was certainly dressed for the occasion when she performed "Diamonds Are Forever" during a party in Paris to celebrate the launch of Chopard’s latest high jewellery collection, The Garden of Kalahari. The star-studded guest list for the Théâtre du Châtelet soiree included Czech supermodel Petra Nemcová, American actress Kirsten Dunst, and former First Lady of France Carla Bruni. The stones featured in the dazzling new collection, which comprises the necklace Bassey wore, a cuff bracelet, two cocktail rings, a pair of earrings, and a secret watch, were cut from a 342-carat rough diamond found in Botswana and named the Queen of Kalahari. The necklace features the three largest stones—a 50-carat brilliant-cut, a 25-carat pearshaped, and a 26-carat heart-shaped gem. A 50-minute documentary screened during the party, The Queen of Kalahari, tells the story of the rough diamond’s discovery at the Karowe mine and the painstaking, year-long design process that brought the Chopard collection to life.
