Beauty brand Shiseido offers new eye make-up colours for spring. Monique Madsen sits down with Training Director Nancy Woo as she shares her tips on skincare and beauty

Nancy Woo has long earned the title “beauty guru,” crediting over three decades of work at Shiseido, one of the oldest beauty brands in the world. In 1984, she began as beauty coordinator of Tung Pao Sdn Bhd, Shiseido’s distributor, and, by 2003, joined Shiseido as regional training director for Asia. She shares her personal skin care regimen and talks about what’s in store for the future of Shiseido as the brand continues to work at delivering quality products that adapt to its customers’ ever-changing modern lifestyle.
Philippine Tatler: As a beauty expert, what are the essentials to your skincare regimen?
Nancy Woo: My regimen starts with defending the skin with double cleansing, followed by a softening lotion. I regenerate my skin with a lifting serum and day and night moisturisers. The skincare line that I use is Shiseido Future Solution LX.
PT: How important is sunscreen to your daily routine and why?
NW: Living in Asia means that we are exposed to strong UV rays everyday. Protection is extremely important to protect our skin from photoageing and prevent unnecessary additional melanin production that results in spots and uneven skin tone. Sunscreen is truly vital for my daily routine.
PT: There’s been a lot of talk about the effectiveness of sunscreen lately. Which of Shiseido’s product lines combat the harmful effects of sun exposure?
NW: Shiseido Global Suncare has 360 degree superveil protection and Wetforce technology that makes its sun protection stronger when in contact with water. Shiseido Global sun care products contain skincare benefits that hydrate the skin while protecting it.
PT: What are the upcoming trends in beauty and skincare?
NW: In skincare, higher technology combined with natural ingredients offer greater impact on our skin. You get quicker results but it is safer for our skin. In make-up, multipurpose products, uniquely beautiful textures that work well with many skin types and deliver stunning true colours.
PT: Tell us more about the new lines that Shiseido is launching for f/w 2017, and which are your favourites?
NW: We will be launching a new line of skincare for young unpredictable skin.
We will also be unveiling a renewal of Shiseido Future Solution LX with an amazing new ingredient. There will be a total line renewal with a lovelier texture, benefits, and a story that will make you fall in love with it. We have also renewed the Yutaka Services for our esteemed customers, ensuring that they feel pampered not only with the products but also with their experience in the Shiseido counter.
SMK or Shiseido Makeup will be launching beautiful and unique eyeliners, eyeliner brushes, paper-light eyeshadows, and new colours of Rouge Rouge.
My favourite new product is definitely the new Shiseido Future Solution LX.
