Hong Kong-based designer Melissa Bui launches her spring/summer 2017 collection in Manila

Melissa Bui, a graduate of embroidery from the prestigious London College of Fashion, is a self-confessed dreamer and firm believer that magic exists in creativity. This is reflected in her pieces, which feature intricate prints and embroidery that can only be described as wearable art. Each season, her vision of a magical dreamworld comes to life through her collection.

Her latest, “Wisteria Way,” evokes the feeling of living in a modern fairytale. Inspired by the whimsical wisteria tunnel of Kawachi Fuji garden, the collection’s colour palette consists of lilacs and yellows that emerge in the subtle floral patterns. “Clothing is an art form, just like a painting. The shell of the clothing is my canvas, and the embellishments I add are simply the paint,” Melissa describes her design process.
