Media personality Tim Yap surprised followers with a special announcement: his marriage to events director Javi Martinez. They tied the knot on Christmas Day.
The couple’s engagement at Yap’s birthday party drew quite an audience, but their wedding was the opposite. They exchanged vows at The Peninsula New York’s rooftop, with only four other people present: witnesses Lea Salonga and Marcel Crespo, The Peninsula New York’s event manager, and the wedding officiator.
In a follow-up to his initial Instagram announcement, Yap posted a photo from the ceremony with the caption, “Our most intimate event ever: got married in New York in a private ceremony with two witnesses and without a hashtag.” Such an intimate event seems out of character with the couple’s public persona, but they preferred to keep things low-key to focus on how much the ceremony means to them. Now, if President Duterte keeps his promise to legalise same-sex marriages, we will finally see this happen in the Philippines.
