FEEL THE HEAT
If you can’t escape the winter, take a trip with your wardrobe. Think prairie dresses, straw hats, and a trusty pair of boots
Nothing is more welcome in the dead of winter than a getaway to a balmy location, but if you can’t get the time off, allow yourself to be sartorially transported to warmer climes by the likes of Dior, Coach, or Altuzarra. For Christian Dior’s Resort 2018 collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri flew guests to the canyons of Calabasas, California and showcased a dazzling array of tasselled dresses and printed ponchos as hot air balloons hovered in the background. The collection took cues from the ancient cave paintings that inspired Christian Dior’s 1951 Lascaux collection while incorporating Chiuri’s signature wearable pieces, like beaded denim jackets and prairie dresses. For a city take on the trend, Coach 1941 showcased tan suede jackets with wingtip details, while Altuzarra sent shearling vests and pieces adorned with cowhide and mirror chips down the runway.
