Red Charity Gala; Ang Pagdiriwang: An Annual Celebration of the Best of the Filipino Spirit; 2018 Elegant Filipinas committee
The annual Red Charity Gala (RCG) has grown in leaps and bounds since its first staging, and co-chairs Kaye Tinga and Tessa Prieto-Valdes have been sincerely grateful for the growing number of sponsors and supporters they gather each year. The 2017 event had the highest number of attendees in RCG’s history, with Manila’s most stylish denizens flocking to the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La at the Fort to watch Joey Samson’s elegant designs grace the runway.
This year, the spotlight will be on in-demand fashion designer Rajo Laurel’s 100-piece Archipelago collection, a meaningful exposition on contemporary Filipino style. The evening is also a nod to his illustrious career as he celebrates 25 years in the fashion industry. “It is through this that I try to find a tangibility and rationale into what it is to be a Filipino artist in our time,” Laurel says. Presented by BENCH and co-sponsored by Megaworld, Sun Life, and Globe, the 10th anniversary gala is set to take place on 27 October at the Marriott Grand Ballroom. Beneficiaries this year include Philippine Red Cross, Assumption HS ’81 Foundation, and several other charities.
