WALK THE LINE
Black and brown eyeliners are so passe. The trend du jour packs major drama - and colour
There are few things as essential to a vanity bag as the trusted little liner—you know, those multipurpose wonder wands in gel, pencil, liquid, or powder packages used everyday to enhance one’s eyes, or at least create the illusion that you’ve had more than six hours of shut-eye. This season, make-up artists are giving this modest tool a colourful update, as seen in the vibrant, boldly lined eyes that have dominated the fall/winter runways. Salvatore Ferragamo went for a barely-there make-up look except for bluntly lined lids in hues ranging from neon orange to lime green, while Elie Saab and Lutz Huelle had models sporting ocean-blue metallics and even glittered gold lines that packed just enough glamour. Keen to amp up the drama? Pack on the liner before giving it a good smudge, or glide dense, pigmented shadows along the lash lines using a blunt-angled brush for a blurred, smokey effect.
