MGCQ in Bacolod extended until July 15
BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has issued Executive Order (EO) No. 45 for the second extension of the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) in the city from June 30 to July 15, 2020.
Leonardia, who signed the EO on June 30, said at around midnight of June 30, a televised announcement was made by the National IATFEID Chairperson Francisco Duque III, that Bacolod City shall be among the areas that
shall remain under MGCQ.
He said the city government has always been faithful in compliance with the national policy in regard to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) public health emergency, acting consistently with the instruction and manner of observing public order, especially in safeguarding the health and welfare of its constituents.
He added the continuity of the MGCQ requires that Bacolodnons shall have to adopt some necessary lifestyle changes because the said deadly disease is still a scourge to the whole world and to Bacolodnons.
“Bacolodnons still have to take necessary health precautions under the MGCQ while it aims to eventually graduate into the “new normal” while allowing some normalcy back into our community life,” the mayor said.
Section 2 of the EO states that all the provisions of EO No. 38 “an order placing the City of Bacolod under MGCQ” and EO No. 43 “an order extending the MGCQ in the city” shall continue to be in full force and effect for the duration of this second extended MGCQ until July 15. Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairperson of Bacolod City Inter-agency Task Force against Covid-19, earlier said that the city is not yet ready to lift the quarantine because of the new cases of Covid-19.
As of June 30, Bacolod City has a total of 51 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
